Donation to summer camp!

CK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Local Nonprofit lends a hand to Day Camp with a lot of heart

OTTAWA, Ontario (August 13th, 2013) – CompuCorps is pleased to announce that they have donated computer equipment to the Children-At-Risk’s Camp Kaleidoscope. The donation with that of other contributors, secured Children-At-Risk’s 3rd year of their all day summer camp.

The camp offers all day summer activities for children within the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) ages ranging from 4-20 years of age. Camp Kaleidoscope has a 1:1 and at times 2:1 counselor/ child ratio to accommodate every child. Giving campers the opportunity to experience summer camp, an opportunity they may not have at other non specialized camps that cater to typically developing children. “Part of our Camp program is to create Memory books using PowerPoint and pictures that are put onto their safety T shirts of their own design — this donation has saved us!” explains Hazel Smith, Children-at-risk project coordinator. For more information on Camp Kaleidoscope, please visit: www.childrenatrisk.ca.

‘Ottawa’s Most Deserving’

THANK YOU on speech bubble price labels

CompuCorps is pleased to announce that, Giselle Rivest of Ottawa, was the proud recipient of our ‘Most Deserving’ holiday social media campaign. Here’s what she had to say!

“The donation of a computer from CompuCorps has been beneficial for me in many, many ways.  The use of a computer permitted me to be able to communicate with my friends and family members more easily - this alone improved my overall quality of life significantly, in that I felt more informed, less isolated, less worried, more relaxed, more able to be responsive to where I really should be when,…  Now, on a regular basis, via my computer, I meet new friends, organize when I will be working at my part-time job, take online courses, and learn more about things I am passionate about and more!  The use of my computer allows me to be a supportive presence to people, events and causes regularly.  CompuCorps gave me the opportunity to receive and give via my computer.  For that and more, I am grateful!  Thanks CompuCorps for your hard work and dedication!

I feel it is important for everyone to have a computer as its use is a source of endless possibilities which can help everyone immensely.  Among other things, one can meet people who can be a source of knowledge, support, and friendship, all of which can increase one’s level of health and wellbeing significantly, in many ways!”

LIVING GREEN EXPO

NewLGECompuCorps acmes its Earth Month activities at Ottawa’s Living Green Expo (LGE), held at the Ottawa Convention Centre. Although the LGE is a new event in the nation’s capital, it is a far cry from being the first of its kind. Two organizers, the Ottawa EcoFair and ECO EXPO, have come together to fashion this fresh occasion.

Informing the community on its ongoing green initiatives (TechReuse, TechMentor, and TechYouth), offering Ottawa residents an alternative to recycling their redundant computer electronics, and handing out delicious earth-cakes –compliments of Sweet B’s, CompuCorps pushes for environmental reform.
