Ottawa (ON) – CompuCorps is happy to announce that it will be attending the Second Annual Ottawa International Game Conference (OIGC) which will be held at the Ottawa Convention Centre May 30th-31st 2013.
Founded by Magmic, Fuel, Playbrains, SnowedIn Studios, Dirty Rectangles, and BitHeads Inc., the Ottawa International Game Conference has managed to draw the attention of leading game developers and innovative thinkers from all over the world.
The conference is targeted towards nurturing the growth of the games development industry in Canada, through in-depth discussions between industry professionals and game enthusiasts around a variety of topics related to current game development models, consumer trends, and video-game publishing practices.
The event will feature several keynote speakers from notable game development firms all over the globe, such as Justin Novosad of Google and Jason VandenBerghe of Ubisoft. Attendees will also be able to experience the excitement of dynamic panels, and survey the exhibits showcased by various Ottawa-based organizations attending the event.
Since its inception in 2000, CompuCorps has endeavored to put forward a message of environmental sustainability and increased opportunities in tech-use for underprivileged families and at-risk youth in Ottawa. Through its TechYouth, TechReuse, and TechMentor programs, the organization has managed to move closer than ever to realizing its goal of bridging the digital divide in an eco-friendly manner.
In an expressive commitment to the organization’s charitable goals, CompuCorps’ dedicated staff and team of volunteers will attend the OIGC, hosting a drop-off box where event-goers can donate their used IT components for charitable redistribution and reuse in the Ottawa area. Furthermore, through its attendance of the event, CompuCorps hopes to bring its message of environmental sustainability and social development to all attendees, bringing the organization one step closer to realizing the vision it set out over 10 years ago.
